Hi John! Nice thing to showcase a whole wedding day from the photographer's pov. Especially for those who've never done that or ar new at this. Congrats. However, let me ask you one question. What's the reason behind taking a photo of their backs (21:39)? I see there is a kind of a trend of getting this shot, among the weeding photographers in US. And I can't simply wrap my head around this. :) Thx, mate.

Does lightroom handle Fuji raw files correctly as a lot of photographers mention that Fuji images come out very soft in Lightroom?

I always bring three camera (more if you count film). This is just redundancy, I have seen and had camera's just crap the bed and I can't risk that on a wedding day. So there is just an oldish Sony A7iii that just stays in my bag because why not.

I use Sony Tough-Ms (277/150) in the XT5 and even they struggle to keep up. That <95MBps SD card story is nightmarish.

I loved weddign photgraphy until I realized what a bad deal it was from the groom. He enters a contract where the woman can cancel whenever she want and get half of everything he owns. I cannot morally justify to be part of the documentation of the celebration of a human getting trapped into such a bad deal.

Yes would like a review of the holdfast system. I have a similar dual camera harness however I'm not sure if its worth to buy the extra holder for like a similar bag. Currently I just use an extra belt that can attach pouches etc.

I have my first wedding coming up with a "torch exit" - similar to sparklers I guess but probably way more light. I think your approach using LED lighting makes the most sense out of what I've been seeing, especially lens choice and processing, so I'm looking forward to it.....

I still remember the first video, you said you have to have two cameras. i then just starting out in the business was like wait. I have to make more money to buy a camera body before I can have two. Do I worry if something happens to my camera? Hell yes I'm ready for that fear to get off my mind..... Ps I've made enough money to buy two more lenses, but not the second camera body as of yet..im one year into it

You absolutely need two camera just in case one of them goes down. Even if I’m using one body I’ll keep a second body with a 24-70 f2.8 or a 50mm just as a quick back up. If your lens, battery, SD card fails during a ceremony you can just switch to your secondary camera without trying to troubleshoot. Completely agree with comments on flash. Sometimes you need it and sometimes you don’t. Indoor shots can look flat and uninteresting without flash. Lightroom Denoise isn’t helping with that.

Agree, photographers must have two bodies! At least. No matter what kind of photographer. I have two bodies on my person, and two more handy, as I had two Sony bodies die at the same time!

I currently use a dual camera strap from a local brand, it's very nice and comfy but it definitely doesn't have as many additional features and it also seems to me that the straps are a tiny bit wider as well. So it would be really nice to see you telling me everything about it 🙂

What camera are you using?

Can you still collectively export all the photos at the same time and choose 300DPI? If 300 DPI is no longer an option what dimensions would make it good for printing quality?

John! You are a gift to all growing wedding photographers!! Thank you! I’m seeing fstop number so low, so how is everyone so focused and clear in your photos? What do you have attached to the top of your camera strap on shoulder?

UK Pro here with 35 years in the wedding and portrait game in the beautiful Cotswolds. Lots of people do not understand that the real power behind MF is in the crop - we used 2 x GFX50's for our weddings and I came across a situation where a picture would really benefit from a mega crop - a little flower girl carrying a basket of petals - shot on the GF30mm from a bit of a distance. I needed to separate her from the background and turn it into a portrait - I went as far as Whitewall - who make our digital albums - would allow, and could go no further than I really wanted becuase of res. Even when creating a bit of a grainy sepia. Whilst it still made the album as it was, and everyone remarked on it - I couldn't help feeling that more could have been had from a 100MPX so that is what we did. Although to be fair we actually went down the Hasselblad route with 2 X2D's and a 907x for proper waist level portrait and group shots - matched to a few Nikon protocol Profoto A10s and it worked. Beautifully. Some commenters below have stated 'It's not worth it if the clients don't notice, it's only you' butwe argue that it is these subtle differences and many others we use which has always separated our work from the other pro's and the weekend wedding warriors out there. In the old days wen everyone was shooting square, Hass, Rollei, Mamiya and Bronica, we chose to shoot Mamiya RZ 6x7 with a couple of Nikon F90x's over the shoulder for the candids. Becuase no-one was doing that, today that separation is 100MF vs 50 or 60 FF and that gap or margin is narrowing constantly. Other benefits over Fuji is that the Hass has full flash sync at all speeds, is simpler and nicer to operate, for us they produce much cleaner images with proper colours and generally gives us nicer pictures at the end of it. Also Hass Apps are up there with Leica Fotos for ease whereas Fuji apps are a bit clumsy, not well thought out, slow and very unuser friendly. We personally find ALL Fuji cameras are far too complicated, especially under pressure as you are never really sure wether you have turned something on you shouldn't, have not turned on something you should, have turned off something you shouldn't or turned off something you should!! Hass = frame, focus, fire. Internal memory as well and the new 2.5 lenses are robust and minute. One downside aprt from the obvious investment is the fear of moisture!!!! Good luck all and always invest in yourself if you are serious about what you do. Full claim - I used to be a Fuji Ambassador and Fuji Lecturer hundreds of years ago - I have nothing against Fuji except a slight moan about the 110mm which is a fantastic portrait lens until you play around with contrast which is when strange things happen. Not so with the old Hass XCD 80, the new 90mm 2.5, (possibly the best portrait lens on the planet), and the old XCD 135mm Carry on.
